Sand the Floor

Warning ~ This story is full of twists and turns.  Consider yourself warned as you read on and wonder if I will ever make a point.  Plus, I think I may have a smidge of ADD!

So we have George right?  Take a brief trip down memory lane with me, kids.  Remember, George came to us from a no-kill shelter in Lacon Illinois.  We are not sure how long he was at the shelter but he was from ‘the small dog room’ which I found cute and pitiful all at the same time.  The room was stuffed with little doggies in kennels just begging to be taken home.  They were begging very loudly and all at the same time. It was deafening.

Anyhoo ~ George made the cut.  Unfortunately, he is a scoundrel.  He’s very loving and smart but he pees in the house.  His favorite spot is that corner up by the TV.  Well, the carpet is virtually destroyed and that’s what makes him a scoundrel.  Now we are stuck with what to do with the living room floor situation.  I listen to books in the way to and from work, right? (if you are thrown by this, read the very first sentence). Well the book I am reading now called ‘Ladies’ Night’ is about a woman whose husband does not pee on the floor that we are aware of, but he too is a scoundrel because he steals her blogging business, cheats on her and then takes everything SHE’S earned!!! This poor creature picks herself up and moves on to an old ‘cracker house’ (I am making a note to look that up here before long) and she makes an agreement with the owner of the home where if he gives her a $5000 allowance AND allows her to live in the house rent free, she’ll clean and fix it up all for the purposes of starting a NEW blog; this cracker house being the featured story.

Short story long, yesterday fake-book-chick is talking about all the things she’s done to save $.  One of them was laying and painting a plywood floor.  PLYWOOD!!!! Plywood is sorta nasty!! It’s the stuff Dad hung in the garage….a step up maybe from particle board…?  This fake-book-chick did just that, used porch paint, painted the plywood, subfloor and voila.  Apparently, it was quite lovely.  So then I wondered if that too was fiction like the story itself or if you can actually paint a subfloor.  Apparently you can actually paint a subfloor with pretty good results.  Here are 2 good sources  http://www.thistlewoodfarms.com/what-is-under-that-rug and http://ashleyannphotography.com/blog/2011/01/24/diy-stencil-painted-subflooring/

So do we like, do this or WHAT!?  It will  be a mess and I will need some ultra-mega-super-strong-dedicated workers.  Compounding the seams, sand, clean, clean again.  Paint, sand, clean, repaint and all the while our living room is completely taken over with nowhere to go but outside, to our bedrooms or to a hotel if we were provided enough $ to do so.  So we’re stuck at home.  J  what do you guys think!?  I find myself wondering what you guys would want to do if given the choice to paint the floor.  Probably something wickedly horrible.  But you’re little.

This brings me to the end of my story and the reason for the picture below.  Sand the Floor!!!! Mr. Miyagi!!  Daniel Son!!!  OH COME ON that is too funny!!!!!!!

Love, Mom
